Compare / Contrast Topics

Here are the topics for your in-class writing test on Thursday, April 18. You must bring to class with a one-page, typed outline (in point form) and hand it in to me with your paper. I will deduct marks for papers without a proper, typed outline. You can use a paper Engilsh-English dictionary during the test.

1. Compare or contrast two games (sports games, board games, or otherwise).

2. Compare or contrast an aspect of your culture to that of Canada.

3. Compare or contrast two types of food (e.g. a traditional dish from your country and a North American dish).

4. Compare or contrast people’s life style 50 years ago to our life style today.

5. Compare or contrast your life as a student here with your life as a student back home (workload, assignments, teaching styles, etc.).

6. Compare or contrast two of your classes in the EAP program (e.g. your reading class and your writing class).

7. Compare or contrast your relationship with your friends here and your relationship with your friends back home (e.g. closeness, expectations, privacy issues, etc.)
